[Ted Talk] Shaolan : Learn to read Chinese with easy
The topic of this ted talking about the easy way to learn Chinese
language. A Chinese scholar would understand 20.000 character but only need
10.000 for understand the basic literacy, and 200 for comprehend basic
literature, this enough to read the restaurant menu, the basic idea in
newspaper. The first, the speaker use eight method for how to read Chinese
vocabulary :
(1) Open the mouth until square口 =mouth,
(2) The symbol
like person walking 人 = person,
(3) The symbol
person with two arm on both sides 火 = fire,
(4) The symbol like a picture of tree nothing
leaf
木 = tree,
(5) The symbol
that a mountain look from the window 山
= mountain,
(6) The symbol like see the sun from the
window
日 =the sun,
(7) the symbol
like we see the moon from high window
月 = the moon,
(8) The symbol
looks like a pair of saloon door in the will west 門 = the door.
This character as building block to get more character. For examples If symbol some one walk behind a person its
mean “to follow”, if person symbol
stretched their arms wide that mean “it was this big”, the symbol the
person inside the mouth and trapper that mean “he’s prisoner”, the symbol tree
and 2 trees are “woods”, 3 trees together are “the forest”, Put a plank underneath a tree that mean
“foundation”, put the mouth on the top of tree that is “idiot”. Two fire together is “hot”, three fire
together that mean “flames”. Set fire underneath two trees is “burning”. Two
sun together is “prosperous” , three together that mean “sparkles”, the sun
and the moon together is “brightness, tomorrow”. The symbol door
put a plank inside that mean “door
bolt”. The mouth inside the door is “asking questions”. The person inside the
door is “evading”. After we know about this character we can make the phases
for example like the mountain and fire together that mean “Vulcano”. The
speaker used this method for the basic of study how to read Chinese language.
It easier to study by using the symbol in the words.
