Instructional Media

          There are many way to teach students and make them interested in learning. One of the way that can we apply for teaching students is using intructional media. There are some explanation of the media below with the procedure of teaching. 

A.    Comic media

The first thing teacher give the material about Expression greeting to students like the following :

Expressions of greeting, asking how someone is and  Expressions of parting / leave taking

            After giving the material, the teacher give the example of using greeting expression by using comic. The teacher ask 2 students to go forward and read the conversation in the comic. And the next activity the teacher give worksheet and students have to make conversation about greeting expression.

B.    Picture media

The teacher explain about desciptive text to the students. Next teacher give the example of descriptive text by using picture media. This media use for teaching first grade of junior high school based on KD. 3.10. Memahami fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan dari teks deskriptif dengan menyatakan dan menanyakan tentang deskripsi orang, binatang, dan benda, sangat pendek dan sederhana, sesuai dengan konteks penggunaannya.

Example of descriptive text

My home        

My home is big. There are 3 bedrooms. My bedroom  is near the living room. Next to my bedroom is my parent’s bedroom. It is a big bedroom. There is a bathroom inside. The next bedroom is for guest. Sometimes my family comes to stay for a night. They take a rest in that room.

The kitchen is in the back part of my house. It is not big. There are a refrigerator, gas stove and some kitchen utentsils. My kitchen is very clean. My mother always sweep the floor everyday. There is a small backyard behind my home. In the corner of backyard, there are a bathroom and toilet. We plant some trees around the yard my mother also plants some vegetables.

After give example of descriptive text, the teacher devide the students in pair and gives them the sheetwork like the following :

C.  Maket media

This media use as a tool for teaching descpriptive text. Students have to describe the maket that they see and  write in the paper. The teacher ask who want to be a volunter to read the description they have done. For sheetwork, the students have to make the other descriptive text in the free title.
